University of York joins CEESI - preliminary announcement - June 2008
The University of York has recently signed the CEESI Memorandum of Agreement, further strengthening and broadening the collaboration between 12 universities and the National Microelectronics Institute. Details of modules to be included in the CEESI 'pool' are still being discussed with the CEESI Board, but they are expected to be at advanced postgraduate level in aspects of EMC and Communications not yet covered by CEESI. The new module titles will be published on the CEESI website in the Autumn, together with synopses, dates, fees and contact details.

New brochure published - May 2008

A new version of the CEESI brochure is now available. Printed copies can be requested from the CEESI office and an electronic version is available in PDF format for download here (2MB, PDF format).

University of Kent joins CEESI - January 2008
The University of Kent has become the latest university to join the CEESI scheme. The team at Kent has extensive experience in the area of Biometrics and Security and is contributing four new modules. Students who combine these modules with others from the CEESI pool and undertake a project through Kent can gain an MSc in Information Security and Biometrics.
 
Welcoming the news, CEESI Chairman David Rees said "CEESI is already making a substantial positive contribution to addressing the skills shortage in the electronics sector. Industry will benefit further from the University of Kent's decision to join the collaboration, as the training available is widened to include the highly relevant and topical areas of expertise in biometrics and information security. This is very good news for the UK. "

July 2006: CEESI Training wins Global Industry Award
- Educational Initiative of the Year 2006


The EuroAsia Semiconductor global prize for 'Educational Initiative of the Year 2006' has been awarded to CEESI Training. The winner was announced during a presentation ceremony in San Francisco on 12th July at the SEMICON West 2006 conference. Amanda Tannahill of the Institute for System Level Integration (ISLI), Scotland, received the trophy from David Ridsdale, Editor in Chief of EuroAsia on behalf of the CEESI Training partners in the UK.

On hearing the news back in the UK, Chairman of CEESI Training's Board of Management, David Rees, said "This partnership between industry and ten UK universities is innovative and is attracting attention from all over the world. It is gratifying that the industry recognises the importance of education and has chosen to show it by introducing this new award. We are delighted to be the first to receive the trophy."

David Ridsdale presents award to Amanda Tannahill

David Ridsdale, Editor in Chief of EuroAsia, presents the EuroAsia Award for Education Initiative of the Year 2006 at the ceremony in San Francisco USA. Amanda Tannahill of the Institute for System Level Integration (ISLI), Scotland, receives the award on behalf of the CEESI Training partners in the UK.



March 2006: New module on Modern Digital Communications

October 2005: New modules available
The University of Bolton's module on Signal Integrity & EMC and Design for Signal Integrity are now part of the CEESI scheme.

May 2005: New modules available
The University of Surrey's modules in Antennas & Propagation and in Satellite Communications are now part of the CEESI scheme.

March 2005: CEESI Programme Extended
Because of the success of the CEESI Training scheme the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) for the UK has provided funds to support the scheme through to April 2009.
